UPM Industry Network Grant Incentives

To strengthen the leap of industry networking based on the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the JINM TNC Office has taken the initiative by implementing the UPM Industry Grant Incentive to UPM staff/agents who bring cash contributions funds from the industry to the university.

Therefore, UPM staff/agents who bring cash contribution funds such as donations, industrial research grants, endowments (endowments) and others as approved in the JPU meeting minute 747.05 (d) (3) and minute 767.03 (e); LPU minutes No. 159.16; JKTK Minute 6/2 (2021), is eligible to receive cash incentive payments from UPM subject to the terms and conditions that have been set.

The University Board of Directors has set the total cash incentive with a maximum limit of RM25,000 for each project brought in.

 

INCENTIVE CRITERIA UNDER INDUSTRIAL NETWORK

  1. Type of project.

Any project that has cash financing and includes administration charges (maximum 10%) from the industry is eligible to receive this incentive. These projects include:

1.1 Product development projects,

1.2 Product and process improvement projects,

1.3 Obtaining a scholarship for UPM,

1.4 Obtaining an endowment for UPM,

1.5 Obtain donations or gifts for UPM,

1.6 Projects that involve the community.

 

  1. Funds in the form of cash.

Only funds in the form of cash, ie those that go into the Trust Account at UPM are accepted in this incentive facility.

 

Cash funds received must come from industry or individuals (Example: philanthropists) only. The industry refers to all private agencies including NGOs, Government Linked Companies (GLCs), Foundations, and Cooperatives, but does not include funds from the government and government agencies (such as FRGS, LRGS, PRGS etc).

 

  1. The project does not contain private allowances.

The project in item 1, must not contain private allowances (such as emoluments, honorarium, or consolation payments) in the agreement approved by the funder. If any, then incentives to staff cannot be claimed.

 

  1. Effective date.

Only projects starting in January 2022 are accepted for this incentive.

 

  1. Administrative charges.

The project agreement (MoA etc.) in item 1 must contain an administration charge (maximum 10%) agreed upon by the funder. If not in the agreement, CiRNeT provides a template of the administrative charge agreement letter. An example of a letter is in Appendix 1.

 

  1. Claim procedure.
    • The opening of a Trust Account or Trust Fund in PTJ is made.
    • The incentive distribution form as in Appendix 2 must be completed by the staff and sent to CiRNeT. Forms are also available on the CiRNeT website.

7.3 Review of distribution form by CiRNeT.

7.4 The payment instruction letter issued by CiRNeT to the Bursar refers to the
       division form in item 7.3.

7.5 Payments are made to the staff salary account, and the relevant PTJ Trust Fund.
