29 July 2023, Puchong - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has partnered with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd for a tree-planting program at the Sultan Idris Shah Forestry Education Centre (SISFEC). The collaboration involves the IPSAS UPM, SISFEC, and the Center for Industry Relation and Network (CiRNeT) UPM, along with the participation of 65 staff members from PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd.

The opening address was delivered by Prof. Haslinda Abdullah, Director of IPSAS, UPM, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and corporate entities in environmental conservation efforts. The program was officially inaugurated by Pn. Suhaileen Bt Shahar, Custodian of Petroleum Geoscience, Technical Assurance at PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, representing the company.

During the tree-planting program, 65 PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd staff members joined experts from UPM to successfully plant 120 trees of various species at SISFEC. This initiative aligns with both parties' commitment to biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation efforts.

The collaboration showcases the strength of the partnership between academic institutions and the industry in addressing environmental challenges. It demonstrates that UPM and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd can leverage their resources and expertise to make a significant positive impact on the environment and the local community.

Through this program, it is hoped that the natural ecosystem will be restored, contributing significantly to environmental preservation efforts and creating a greener and more sustainable future.
