Forest tree planting program in collaboration with UPM - Procurement/Supply Chain, SBOKL

PUCHONG, May 12, 2023 – Shell Business Operation Kuala Lumpur, in strategic collaboration with the
Industry Relations and Networking Center (CiRNeT), UPM, and Sultan Idris Shah Forest Education Center
(SISFEC), UPM, organized the PROJECT HEROES: FOREST ADOPTION & TREE PLANTING PROGRAM.
This university-level program marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Shell and UPM
for the Project Heroes initiative, spanning a duration of 5 years.

Approximately 80 individuals, consisting
of Shell employees, participated in this program.
The tree planting program at the Sultan Idris Shah Forest Education Center (SISFEC) aims to demonstrate
a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Through such initiatives, it seeks to improve air
quality, restore natural habitats, and provide benefits to humans as well as flora and fauna.


A total of 140 local forest seedlings were planted during this program. Among the tree species planted
were Merawan Siput Jantan, Kempas, Kapur, Meranti Sarang Punai, Merbau, Perah, Pelong Licin, Kerdas,
Sentul, and Kelat.


This tree planting program exemplifies the increasing involvement of the industry in addressing climate
change and promoting sustainable practices. Shell demonstrates its dedication to environmental
conservation and indirectly serves as an example to encourage other industries to follow suit.
