CiRNeT attended a briefing session of China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) on Talent Corporation with Malaysian universities. This briefing is attended by representatives from 12 Malaysian universities, Industry Relations Division, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, top management from CREC and InvestKL.
CREC is among the largest construction company in the world. Malaysia has become its first subsidiary office in oversea. It intends to secure adequate talents to work with the company for projects in this region. This is in line with the 12 National Key Economic Area (NKEA) under the government transformation programme.
Currently CREC is doing several projects in Malaysia including MRT Line 1 and Line 2, Malaysia Double Track Project and Sabah Railway Project.
Targeted scope of collaboration with selected universities in Malaysia are as follows;
(i) academic sponsorship to deserving students (500 scholarships are offered in 5 years);
(ii) internship placements for undergraduates in the discipline of civil/mechanical design, engineering works, science, finance, accounting and/or geology (up to 200 students per year);
(iii) research projects for academics and postgraduates;
(iv) graduate employability and placement within CREC’s overseas offices and projects (up to 150 graduates in 3 years);
(v) seminar/training sessions;
(vi) any other areas of co-operation as agreed by both CREC and the respective universities.
